So lets talk about keeping the community thriving.

Project threads are always fantastic of a form of "getting your name out there".
What more to help build hype than to have a project forum showing off your latest project you are working on?

We should be allowed to post our discord link so people can join OUR SERVER community.
It's a form of gathering players and getting feedback quicker and easier.
Not everyone wants to comment on a r-s post, I petition we allow discord links so we can start out a community/build one.
Another thing is, say someone views it, loves the idea/concept and wants to end up playing?
With having discord links public someone can join and be reminded of that server
AND they can now directly talk to other members of the community who plan on playing.

What's the difference between people in the project forums saying "pm me for discord invite" vs having the link public.
I don't see any issues stemming from having discord links be public.
I'm immensely more active on my discord than I am on here. I love feedback and sometimes it can take a few days before a r-s member realizes I've responded to them.
Not everyone is constantly revisiting your project thread, but can easily view you discord channels.

As a way to make project threads more viable we should be allowed to post our discord links, but lets have a discussion if you think otherwise.

But with affiliate you can post your discord link. :lolbert:

Would be cool but I don’t think they will ever do anything that takes a perk away from being a rune-server affiliate. Maybe if you come up with an idea that adds a good perk to being an affiliate you can get them to take one away, although they would be more likely to just add the new perk to affiliates rank. I personally would like to see a more structured (I mean simply more perks for each rank) perk system for all the donator ranks as well as the affiliate rank. It might give people more insensitive to donate, even if it’s just for the basic ranks. Which would overall increase cash flow.

Also difference between having the link on there and saying pm me is a lot of people aren’t going to take the time to pm and wait for a reply.

A way around this though is to simply have a playable beta and just put it in the advertise section then you can put all the links you want. Although if most people start doing that then it makes the project forum pretty useless.

Not sure where you're getting this from, mods don't give a fuck about affiliate (they don't get paid), and perks have been removed before.

The project section is meant to be for people to follow along development of projects, not to funnel all attention away from the project into some discord. We are totally okay with advertising your discord in the advertisement section when you have a reason to direct traffic away from R-S, but project threads become redundant and the section loses its purpose if every thread follows the format of "visit this Discord or this website to view our update log".

If every time I open a project thread, the only content in it follows the lines of directing you to somewhere else to find out what developments the project has had, people will soon stop trying to follow the projects section altogether. The idea is that people can follow multiple projects they're interested in and see the development of them on R-S, not on another website/chat program.

Removing the purpose of the project section and making it "advertisement for servers that aren't live" isn't going to help build the community whatsoever.

+1 scu

I personally can see both sides of it, however scu has the lean on this one.

I see the view of what you're saying.
I personally think that the project thread would be just as active as previous if you added the ability of linking discords.
The way I see it is people looking for up-and-coming servers will still be checking the project threads.
The project thread now is more of a way for a community member to look at it once and forget about it.
What benefits does it have being there? I understand once in a blue moon people will subscribe to the thread or even follow it based of huge interest.
I'm just purposing that for the people creating the project thread, it would benefit the usage more to allow discord links.
I'd personally be more inclined to post more on r-s about updates if I was gaining more than a "thanks" on a post or a random kid who just wants post count saying "goodluck"
People pay to "avoid the rule of external links" because its beneficial to both parties.
The player gets to join the community and see all other members who are planning on playing, and the owners getting a small bit of traction.
No one goes into the project forums and clicks off r-s and never comes back.
The line of "project threads becoming redundant because of a discord link or website link" is easily countered, the idea is to get attention/build hype.
Anytime someone is excited for a project in the works they can easily forget if they don't revisit the project thread often.
So this would be more a beneficial standpoint for the USERS of the forums.

Why make discord links a hassle to achieve?
Like there are some talented developers who salved on their servers who just want feedback/beta testers or ideas that cannot get intouch with half the people interested because r-s doesn't want to let you unless you pay.
I people constantly posting "pm me for discord links".
IF a player wanted to join the discord they would find a way via site discord integration or private messaging for a link as stated above.
It's just a hassle for both sides and makes an unpleasant experience.
I don't think the project forums would ever receive any issues from this or would "die" in any way. Yes external links, but people will still actively come here LOOKING FOR AN RSPS.
What this site is a HUGE useful tool for.
Blocking discord links is blocking someone from essentially joining a queue to wait for a server to come out.

TL/DR: im stupid and I like discord links on project sections.
