Hey there, everyone!

The further we're able to develop and integrate our ideas into the server, the further we're able to shape its identity. At its very heart, Neox is a server we intend for players to be able to adventure through, discovering and conquering everything from the biggest of mountains, to the tiniest of hills. It's a project we'll continue to build upon for the long foreseeable future, and with that, introduce all kinds of new systems and things to do! For today's update post, we've continued to expand upon our questing system and have introduced our version of Recipe For Disaster... and with it, the rewards!

Our philosophy behind the introduction of this new questline and the items with it is to encourage players to explore through the various tasks throughout the server, growing their account, and in doing so, continue their progression in unlocking the ever renown questline gloves. Each of them, leading up to Barrows, can be unlocked by simply playing through our world and completing the tasks within. In doing so, players will continue to advance their progression through the "Neox" achievement line and with it, unlock different sets of the gloves. Every pair of gloves proceeding the Barrows pair can be unlocked in this fashion, however the final pair will be unlocked with our newly introduced Recipe for Disaster quest.

Now, we won't go spoiling everything surrounding this quest, as some things are better left to surprises, but let's just say those who've finished the questline as it was originally designed should be prepared for the challenges to come within this one!

Official Blog Link: 09/15/23 | Minor Update - Dragon Slayer - Neox Blog

Hey there, everyone!

When we'd first started Neox, we aimed to create an environment and dynamic that would allow for players to progress and build upon their accounts as they explored our humble project. Whilst doing, they'd be able to complete tasks, pursue achievements, and experience all the nuances throughout the world of Neox. We wanted to provide an adventure that justly rewarded players for their time, which leads us to today's update post... Dragon Slayer!

As with yesterday's update, we've introduced another miniature questline to the server that will have players taking on an old familiar foe and unlocking access to the next tier of weapons in defeating them! What better a way to prove yourself worth of wielding dragon weapons than slaying a dragon? Players who complete this miniature quest will unlock access to purchasing dragon weapons from the various vendors of Neox!

We've also added a quick-loot option for members who have a vendetta and wish to repeat the fight for additional drops!

With this being the third questline added within Neox, we'd figured it was about time to give them their own category as well for making navigation just a little bit easier! Following today's update, members will now be able to find a "Miniquests" category within their "Tasks, Challenges, and Achievements" tab. As we continue to introduce more and more questlines within the game (with the full intent of writing our very own in the near future), we're looking forward to watching the category itself grow.

Thanks to everyone who's been a part of the project thus far! This will be the final update for the week, and we shall see you again come Monday. As a reminder, the Spawn Beta period will begin on Sunday, the 17th, so prepare yourselves for the chaos to come. We will make an official announcement within the discord once the flood gates have been opened.

Thanks!

Hey there, everyone!

As you're probably all well aware, we're right around the corner of release, and what would a release be without a head-to-head competition with some spicy rewards intended to memorialize the frontrunners within the game, give them a little bit of spending money, and a variety of unique cosmetics to boot? Well, it's safe to say it wouldn't be much of a launch at all!

Following the big day, all Neox members will be invited to compete in the categories outlined within this announcement, each having just a single winner able to claim the prizes up for grabs. To track the winners, all but the 30 day window categories will automatically announced within our official discord!

Hall of Fame | Competition Categories

I8QAAe0.png
Main Event: Total Task Points in 30 Days
• Currently, Neox is home to over 1,000 unique tasks, challenging members to complete a large variety of activities to get through; "Veteran" difficulty members will compete over a 30 day period following the release to see who can gather the most total task points in that time frame.

avtHJuW.png
Side Event: Fastest Solo CoX Completion
• Members both daring and skilled enough to challenge the Chambers of Xeric through a solo run are challenged to post the fastest time of completion over a 30 day period. All account types and difficulties are welcome to compete within this side event. Members can check the current leaderboard times by interacting with the leaderboard outside of the raid.

E5f1YDg.png
Side Event: Casual Maxed Account
• With two different difficulties to choose from regarding account progression rates, we figured it would only make sense to run a competition to see who can be the first to max out both! Members who choose the "Casual" account setting will be able to compete and see who can max all skills out first! Fret not, the acquisition of experience boosts has been drastically reduced in consideration for this and all experience related competitions.

6cbRW2R.png
Side Event: Highest Cluescroll Points in 30 Days
• For those of the more adventurous type who're keen to solve a mystery, we're including a category that will perfectly compliment such an eye for intrigue! With clue scrolls being weighted at a different value, the member to finish the most over a 30 day period for the highest point total will win this side event and the prizes to come with. Point totals can be tracks on the official Neox hiscores and the point values within the command placard.

YNcrtJi.png
Side Event: Veteran Ironman Maxed Account
• For those wanting to undergo one of the most challenging of side events, look no further! Members who create an ironman account and set their difficulty to the highest will be able to compete in the race for the first to max out. We predict many a long night for those who wish to be memorialized under this category.

YgWmQsv.png
Side Event: Veteran Completionist Achievement
• What might very much constitute the most difficult of all side events within this competition, the first member to create a "Veteran" difficulty account and work their way through Neox achievements until completion of the "Completionist" achievement will claim this spot.

E5f1YDg.png
Side Event: Veteran Maxed Account
• Members who wish to undertake the grueling challenge of maxing their account whilst on the hardest difficulty, but would like to do so whilst being able to trade and interact with other players (no offence, ironmen), this is the mode for you. The first to completely max a "Veteran" difficulty account will claim this spot and the rewards that come with.

To be fair, there isn't any legit 'content' that has been added as far as I can see. What have you actually added in terms of gameplay content? Its all custom interfaces, fake QoL updates, and much more focused on "rewards" that lead to nothing. Is the server still running on the original zenyte revision from years ago? Your new project highlight is a competition that seems to target the retention of a player but they all have the same exact reward. Your blog has features, improvements, fixed, and removed sections but no feature was actually added besides the "over 800" now "over 1,000 tasks". There's not a single piece of picture of anything added, only changed stuff. You changed the home, have a building full of npcs(as if its 2009). I'm really concerned for the longevity of the server considering there seems to be not much different from original starting point.

Hopefully your concerns will be relieved once you've had a chance to experience the project come the 30th! Thanks for taking the time to share your opinion. Glad to hear how excited you are and hopefully we're able to live up to the expectation. Mwah~

As a side note, this will be the final post on this thread within the Project section as we'll be converting it to an Advertisement thread.

Hey there, everyone!

Sooo… it’s safe to say that it’s been a very tumultuous start (and that’s definitely not a word we had to look up the definition of). One of the huge considerations we’d try to prepare for before the launch, which actually ended up initially causing that slight delay for all of the eager and rightfully excited frontrunners, was adding in a system that was intended to counteract the very thing that rocked us so hard; what we weren’t prepared for, was just how large of an attack we were going to be under. For consideration, and hopefully mild amusement for the few who understand these numbers, here’s a screenshot from the first 90 minutes of our launch:

oxof9sM.png

A casual near 1/10th of the Earth's population checking out our website... apparently!

Needless to say, it put our system under some pretty serious duress and caused us to exercise some particularly abstract methods in keeping everything from imploding (such as having to manually restart the web host every 45 seconds when it inevitably overloaded… sorry for that one, web developer). What we didn’t account for in all of this was how patient of a community we had during the process. Understandably, it’s an incredibly frustrating experience to have this sort of thing happen, both as a player and as the team wanting to finally open up our passion project to everyone, when there’s been so much expectation built up. To everyone who was shafted today in the purgatory that enveloped our login process, our most sincere apologies. We’ve been doing what we can to patch up everything and hold our quaint ship afloat, but the absolute orbital laser of a DDOS attack definitely got a few good swings in.

On that same note, we’ll be looking to make it up to everyone once the dust has settled in a fashion that doesn’t necessarily pull the rug out from those who’ve been able to get in, but also doesn’t overlook those who weren’t. We’ll come up with something good, we promise! The most surprising fact of today was that amidst all the chaos, there was people who were still wanting to reach out and show their support through donations. For those people, we can’t say we understand the absolutely bonkers mentality behind your actions, but we can safely understand the reason, and for that we thank you for showing your support and we’ll keep doing our very best to hold Neox to an above bar standard. We’re also reconstructing the entirety of the donation perk list and fully intend to have it in place early next week, which will also include a proper Knowledge Base entry outlining each of the perks for each tier. We’ve already typed the outline up for the upcoming changes and let’s just say there’s some fairly spicy ones.

To the beta testers (if you’d missed out on the beta phase, you can skip this whole paragraph!), don’t worry, we’ve not forgotten about you! There was talk of having you all ever so graciously acknowledged for your collective efforts during both the open and closed beta periods, and we’ve not forgotten. Within the next couple of days, a magic section will appear within the Discord where we’ll house a public forum for everyone to voice their opinions on what they’d like to see and shortly after we’ll have it implemented into the game!

Would we say the attacks compromised the quality of our launch? They absolutely did, so to whoever orchestrated them all? Give yourself a pat on the back, you managed to do the very thing you sought out to do and had some fairly decent returns. Are we even the remotest bit discouraged as a result? Absolutely not. Neox was, at its very conception, always designed to be more of a marathon than a sprint. We intend to build upon this project for ages to come and to hold it to a level we can be genuinely proud of. We want to keep improving upon the internal systems, introducing new content, growing, and ultimately… provide a place for players who share our vision. So to you, thanks for giving us the opportunity to experience one of the hardest DDOS attacks we’d ever had, and for giving us the chance to grow from it and improve on a ton of our back end. Same time tomorrow? This time, all we ask is that you buy us a drink first.

To the entire community, for what happened today, we’re sorry. We tried our very best to prevent it, failed, and so subsequently tried to do our very best to deal with it. We know it wasn’t a smooth ride, it wasn’t the most enjoyable, and it feels unfair to the vast majority of you. From our perspective? It really sucks as well. We were so incredibly excited to reveal to you all what we’d been fastidiously working on all this time, to have you log in for the first time and glimpse a world you could call your home, if only for a little while, and it feels like we let you all down. Going forward, we’ll do better by all of you and keep trying to improve.

Anyways, here’s to tomorrow. We’re not finished yet… not even close.

Thanks,

Neox Staff

Media has been updated and this thread is ready to be moved into the Advertisement section. Thank you, everyone!

Hopped on briefly to give Neox a check today, glad to see you're still going strong w/ 70+ players on a Monday.

This is very professionally managed, good job. Are there any ETAs on revisions upgrades & more recent content?
