Ok so I have been away from doing servers for a good while. I did some old school runescape servers back in the day and actually did a crap ton of work on perfect world servers on rage zone script releases installers mods etc but me and my friends have been talking about hosting our own runescape server. I know releases like this existed back when I was doing it I just never had much luck getting them to work right in linux but I was noob back then.
What I am looking for is as generic of an old school release as I can find preferably with the website to replicate the old school feel. I am not even sure versions exist with the old web login method instead of the client but that would be cool to simplify things. I am wondering if anyone can point me towards a source that fits that bill. I wont be using this for a live private server at least not unless I get back into this pretty extensively but I would love this for me and a few friends who played for years then got disenchanted with jagex in my case having a character i had played since high school stolen.. when they put in 2fa cause i couldnt remember info from the ninth grade lol. I have the knowledge to do most of this I am just looking for some advice on what setup to start with as there are a daunting amount of threads here. Id like to preferably execute it from a linux environment but that's not a deal breaker its more for my convenience.
