Hello. I would like to introduce a new project that is a new kind of RSPS beyond RS. This may not be the right place to post this, but I feel that this is the only place that might have the right people to consider this. I am looking to assemble a team of developers and server owners to build this together.

As many of you know, Jagex recently announced community servers for OSRS. This move is pretty unprecedented, as they see the potential in expanding RS servers into community-based worlds. Think of them kind of like Minecraft, Rust, or even Counter-Strike servers, as well as Roblox and Fortnite Islands. This is because the gaming industry is moving towards more content creators, and the industry is evolving. I think this is the right move - as RSPS I think, has always been one of the most decentralized and organic community base of game servers developed by real players and gamers. I myself included.

A bit of a background about myself. I have not been active in the RSPS space for nearly 10 years now. I left back in 2012 or so, back when I was in high school. I had started making servers and running them when I was 14, like many of you, at a very young age, because of our interest in RS and exploring new ways to play the game. And one of the most active servers I was involved in back then was called Z508, which was the first PvP server that had the best combat back when every server barely worked and were more like pet projects. We were the first to create a server dedicated to PvP and perfect the combat system and had perfect combat formulas. Nowadays, PvP servers is probably one of the most popular aspects of RSPS's, as they always were. Z508 was instrumental in creating this movement. You can look back in history and watch some of the videos made for the server back then, it was one of the most active servers with the most engaged player base because of our love for PvP. I was the co-owner and partner of the main developer, Zach.

Fast forward to today, I had gotten involved in the crypto and blockchain industry in 2017 as many did that year. My main interest was in the fact that you could have coins almost like games do as digital currencies. And I've always been intrigued by how gaming and money were intertwined. I began working in the space and building my own startup which was focused on mining at first. Today, I am the founder of a company called Ender Labs, and we are building Ender Protocol a liquid staking gaming platform. This is a project that aims to interconnect gaming with crypto and NFTs, often called Web3 gaming, through liquid staking, which is what is the most prominent system for blockchain is through Proof-of-Stake instead of mining through Proof-of-Work.

I know that crypto and in particular Web3 gaming, especially NFTs, are quite controversial, and most gamers hate them, because they have a P2W monetization model and most of them are just selling the tokens which are made of no real value, especially when the game itself is not very well-designed. But I believe that with the trend of games becoming more and more creator-focused, there is a new model for gaming ripe for disruption which incorporates blockchain in a new way that is actually useful and has the potential to actually revolutionize the industry.

This is model is called Liquid Game Servers, which we are pioneering.

Unlike all other Web3 games, and all games today, instead of focusing on creating a single game or many separate games, and making game assets NFTs, I believe that we should create a new model or platform for hosting game servers which are built on the blockchain, that are spun up as an interconnected game server platform, for a game server marketplace. Think about how many RSPS's there are, each of them their own individual server and playerbase, economies, and experiences. Now, what if there was a way to connect them all together just like RuneScape has servers as worlds. So you could easily switch between different servers. Sounds a lot like Community Servers doesn't it?

I think the RSPS community should evolve and begin a new era in which we come together not as individual developers and owners, but to become an entirely new company and build a whole new platform based on this new model.

The reason I'm posting this here, is because I am having trouble finding the right people to join my company to build this. I have spent a lot of my own personal funds on the project and bootstrapped it. And we have developed our own completely custom liquid staking DeFi protocol that allows users to bond ETH and earn yield in our own token, which is rewarded based on the yield from liquid staking. It's a bit complex to explain, but the whole idea is that these game servers must have some function of monetization and generation of revenue in order to sustain them, and that they can be minted as NFTs, where each server is its own NFT that was created by bonding ETH.

Think of it like this, when you play RuneScape, and you buy membership through bonds, and you pay real life money for them, you are funding the cost and development of RS and the servers. Blockchain is a technology that enables for a decentralized way of hosting a database or ledger, and computational resources on the network; via the EVM or other L1 networks. One of the biggest use cases for this, is game servers. Believe it or not, I see the future of one of the biggest industries to become game servers for virtual experiences and digital creation and assets, tied to its own economy. It's all about vertical integration. Social networks are becoming more and more interactive, and users demand live reactions and interactions, with fans and creators. This is why Roblox and Fortnite are so popular.

So, this new model, how is it different than the rest? For one, it has its own self-generation of revenue via liquid staking on Ethereum. The first. And it has a new model in which the game itself is integrated with the process in creating player-owned game servers, truly controlled by the users. Also the first. Thanks to my background in RSPS. Little did I know, RSPS might be the most powerful model for all future interactions online.

When I got into crypto, I learned a lot about money and economics, and how that ties into the internet and network computing. The blockchain enables a new form of network computing in which we essentially all run applications on a shared, decentralized network which has its own native currency, also known as gas or Ether, for the Ethereum network.

But the key here, is that, with decentralized financing, you can create new forms of financial systems that can tie in the intrinsic value of the base application or hosted processing on the network.

With Ethereum, they have scaled the network via Layer-2 Rollups, which essentially is like a network extension which computes every transaction off-chain and posts them on-chain and verifies them. This enables for much cheaper and faster transactions. Another way to think of them, are like servers. Which is how it ties into this.

Game servers, that are rollups as L2s on Ethereum, where each server is created via the process of bonding ETH into an NFT, which is a novel utility for NFTs that are much more practical in the sense that it ties real underlying value to them through liquid staking, and extending or adding the further function of creating game servers.

How do the game servers work?

Well, this is where it becomes much more interesting, and more tricky.

There are many ways to go about this.

Typically, if you had a blockchain and it was dedicated for gaming, you would have an open platform where you would have developers build their games on your chain, each being a separate game. But just like L2s, this is problematic in that, it doesn't really create a real incentive for the usage of the network itself except for the underlying technology of the chain, for the game, from an economic standpoint. And most of the games then issue their own token, like their L2 counterpart, so you just have a network of many different games all with their own token, all subject to dilution of value and users. And that's fine and all, but it's difficult to get much traction or momentum for your game unless you have a triple AAA budget of $100M, and even then it's a hit or miss. We know this, because we know good games are defined by the passion and proper balancing of the game itself, not how much money you spend on it. RS and Minecraft are perfect examples of this. And that's why RSPS's is so powerful.

With this integrated approach of tying the creation of game servers each being minted through a bond as an NFT, which as its own rollup, you could have a game platform for a single game, with thousands of servers, scalable, with thousands of chains. The opposite approach to your typical model. Think of each server like a Minecraft server, or Fortnite Island. They are all based on the same core game and game engine. So that's where RuneScape comes in.

As I mentioned earlier, RuneScape has a fantastic community base, and the RSPS community is one of the few communities that is truly decentralized. So what if we all came together and built a new project that aligns with the same ethos of RSPS, but for our own game? Instead of using RS files and assets, we would have to come up with our own and build it from scratch, due to copyright reasons, obviously.

But this model I'm proposing, fundamentally flips the current industry on its head, where every game server would be owned by the players, as an MMO literally built by the players. Obviously, there are problems and nuances in this. There are a lot of details that I have not gone into, but I have already planned out a lot of the game itself in terms of having its own core gameplay loop and game mechanics based on my extensive knowledge in game design and economics. We could start off using an RSPS as a base model or prototype, but the key here, is that I have already spent multiple 6 figures of my own money to develop a DeFi smart contract protocol that enables for the bonding process and minting of NFTs which would then be used to create the servers, and it's own token which you can restake to secure its own network for each game server.

This could be the opportunity of a life-time.

I believe this could be a new age of the next Oracle, Google, Microsoft, and Facebook, a new social gaming network that is built as a game server platform that enables true ownership of game servers as tradable assets; have you ever tried selling your own server? This could be the new model for ownership of game servers on blockchain.

More details about the game itself.

It would be similar to RuneScape, except with a modernized take. Think of it like RS4. It would have a fully-procedurally generated game world, like Minecraft or Diablo, where every game server would be unique and with randomized spawns and resources, and where the players would partake in the actual creation of the game's economy through the process of minting the realms. By simply depositing ETH into a bond, would give you ownership of your own game server, which would be based on the amount of your deposit and the period of the bond.

The rarity of the realm would be tier-based, with realms that are bigger and more resourceful, with rarer NPC and boss spawns inside.

The combat system would be a hybrid of modern FPS, with RPG combat mechanics like melee, ranged, and magic, with a dual-pillar model where you have a move-based set of combat skills for melee and ranged, but with a separate, exotic set of power-based, abilities combat for magic and prayer (passives), that are only unlocked via discovering an itemized system of artifacts and relics found through the game world.

A way to think of it, is if you mixed Minecraft's model of a randomly generated world from every single new game you create, with a cohesive game world of RuneScape, where you have static world placements and locations like towns.

But now, imagine, instead of each world you login to being the same world and map of Gielinor, it would be a whole new map every single time, and every single one is persistent and permanent, instead of being disposable like Minecraft's game worlds. So the entire process of creating the servers themselves becomes part of the game itself of RNG. Instead of rolling items, you roll worlds. Then in each world, you don't just roll items and unlock a set skill tree, you roll the abilities and powers themselves as randomized consumables which unlock that unique power. This is then balanced by the move-based combat which is based on training. Every world is then able to be customizable by the owner.

If you thought this OP was too long, here's an AI summarized version:

TL;DR: We're building a platform that allows players to own and operate game servers as NFTs, powered by liquid staking yield. It's like Minecraft servers meet DeFi, with a RuneScape-inspired game world. We're seeking skilled developers and server owners to join our team.

The Problem

The current landscape of Web3 gaming faces significant challenges:
  • Focus on in-game asset NFTs rather than true infrastructure ownership
  • Lack of sustainable economic models
  • Disconnected ecosystems with limited interoperability
  • Struggle to provide engaging gameplay comparable to traditional games

Our Solution: Liquid Game Servers

We're introducing a revolutionary concept: Liquid Game Servers. Key features include:
  • Game servers as ownable, tradeable NFTs
  • Server creation and maintenance funded through liquid staking yield
  • An interconnected network of unique, customizable game worlds
  • RuneScape-inspired gameplay with modern elements

My Background

  • Co-owner of Z508, one of the first successful OG PvP-focused RSPS

  • Founder of Ender Labs, developing Ender Protocol (a liquid staking gaming platform)
  • Extensive experience in both RSPS development and blockchain technology

Technical Overview

Our platform leverages several cutting-edge technologies:
  • Ethereum for base-layer security and liquidity
  • Layer-2 rollups for each game server, ensuring scalability
  • Custom DeFi protocol for bonding ETH and generating yield
  • NFT standards for representing game servers
The process works as follows:
  1. Users bond ETH to mint server NFTs
  2. Bonded ETH generates yield through liquid staking
  3. Yield is used to maintain servers and reward players
  4. Server NFTs can be traded, creating a dynamic marketplace for game worlds
  5. Game Design
Our game will feature:
  • Procedurally generated worlds, unique to each server
  • Hybrid combat system combining move-based skills and discoverable abilities
  • Player-driven economy tied to realm rarity and resources
  • Cross-server interaction and asset portability
Imagine a modernized RuneScape (RS4) where:
  • Every world is unique, like Minecraft, but persistent
  • Players actively participate in world creation through server minting
  • Combat blends elements of modern FPS with traditional RPG mechanics

Why This Matters

This model offers several advantages over current systems:
  • True ownership of gaming infrastructure
  • Sustainable economic model backed by real yield
  • Unlimited scalability through dynamic server creation
  • Alignment of player engagement with economic incentives

Call for Collaboration

We're looking for:
  • Experienced RSPS developers
  • Server owners with community management skills
  • Blockchain developers familiar with DeFi and NFTs
  • Game designers passionate about creating novel experiences
If you're excited about redefining the future of gaming and have relevant skills, we want to hear from you.

Conclusion

Liquid Game Servers represent a paradigm shift in how we think about online gaming. By combining the best elements of RSPS, blockchain technology, and modern game design, we have the opportunity to create something truly revolutionary.

Join us in building the future of decentralized gaming. Together, we can create a platform that empowers players, rewards creativity, and pushes the boundaries of what's possible in virtual worlds.

Interested? Reach out to me to learn more and discuss how you can be part of this exciting project.

What's the real incentive here though? Because its far easier for developers to just integrate stripe and receive payments legitimately and directly. I apologise if I missed your point.
