Seeing as i had a few questions regarding the quadcopter and what i do with it (plus i annoy loads of people on the sb with it so i thought i'd do the same for forum!)

The quadcopter I have is a DJI Phantom 3 Advance
- 1.2 miles range (both TX range and video feed range)
- 1080p 12mp camera
- Gimbal to balance the video
- GPS / sonar and some other stuff to make it stable)

The flight time is around 22 minutes per battery. This is my personal quadcopter that I film stuff i'm interested in, here's a picy :)

Here's my first ever flight video with it, it's super boring and VERY basic, the colour grading is incorrect as i did it in imovie as i didn't have the editing PC on!

When filming for work, we use something called a DJI Inspire and this gigantic hex which doesn't even have a name any more as it's parts of loads of machines. Create some really stunning videos with it.

It's a strange hobby/business to be involved in but hey, I think it's good fun, especially if you love making films which is all I did as a kid. If you're interested in it at all then feel free to let me know :) (I know a feel people on here have some cool RC cars and stuff!)

Looks cool man, but only a 22 min battery life? How long does it take to charge?

Unless you're willing to spend big bucks (i'm talking near £5000) and loose loads of features then you can get longer ones, some which last up to around 45 minutes. The batteries for this one on my charger taken around an hour to charge, the new charger should be able to do it in 25 minutes :)

Nice footage Tom I wouldn't say it's a strange hobby though, as it's a fun to do and at the end makes for a really amazing video. More and more people are starting to use these, including some people I watch which can make you decent money when gathering footage for people. I saw these awhile ago, but a favorite Youtuber of mine has one now which has done some crazy shot:

Anyways subscribing to you, looking forward to seeing some more cool stuff ;).

We actually have that quadcopter at work:

The other one is this one is massive, i'll grab a photo when it's next out. I'm actually trying to think of a youtube channel name for the quad stuff, one of the suggestions was PixelCookie which i may actually end up using :L

Nice, I'm a complete newbie when it comes to ariel filming but it's definitely something I'd like to have a play with at some point.

How does the controlling of the device work? Do you have a handheld controller with a screen in it to show what the camera is showing? Or is it done through a laptop/PC/mobile phone?

All the best,
Harry

Awesome! My boss just bought a couple DJI phantoms earlier this year and a few weeks later there was a regulation passed where you can't use them for commercial use (in real estate) so they've just been sitting around on a shelf for a awhile unfortunately :(

In the USA and UK we've had these rules for commercial use for a long time. You can be exempt from them if you have certain licensing so that may be worth while. Phantoms are great tools :)

Sorry didn't even see this post.

You can get ones which work with phones or proper remote's. This one uses both, your phone / ipad becomes the camera view + the status of the air craft. You then obviously control the craft with the remote.

You can do cool stuff like send it out on pre-planned missions using your laptop which is something im yet to mess around with. I highly recommend getting one :)

Holy shiv, that looks sick, wish I could buy one, be sure to share some more videos, that looks sick o_O <3

Thanks :) I will do, got a few jobs lined up.

If you're interested, you can pick a small one up for around £50 which will get you started in the hobby!

iPad mini 2 arrived today (one specificity for the rig) going to jailbreak it and get it ready for flight hopefully by tonight and do a morning mist flight if im up in time :)
